KOFI ANNAN AT FOREFRONT OF TACKLING MIGRANT CRISIS

Global Citizens, world leaders, policymakers, philanthropists, celebrities and thought leaders will gather next month in the Principality of Monaco for the 3rd annual Global Citizen Forum (GCF) held from 8-9 October 2015. This year, the GCF, a non-profit platform, will call attention to the intensifying refugee crisis in Europe and the urgent need to enact effective solutions. Additionally the Forum will feature discussions on global security, foreign direct investment and the future of global citizenship.

AFRICA'S FIRST CROWDSOURCED SONG

CROWDSOURCEThis week, in studios across the continent, Africa's first crowdsourced song was recorded by some of the biggest names for a global initiative to get the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to everyone on the planet.

The SDGs, now popularly known as the Global Goals, will be adopted by 193 world leaders in the United Nations in New York on 25 September. The goals represent an action plan for the next 15 years and aim to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and tackle climate change for everyone by 2030.

SA CONSUMERS IN FOR MORE PAIN AS INTEREST RISES

Neil Roets, CEO of one of the largest debt counselling companies in South Africa, Debt Rescue, said the increase comes at a time when electricity tariffs and the fuel price are near all-time record highs.

Debt expert Neil Roets, CEO of Debt Rescue, one of the largest debt counselling firms in South Africa, said for commuters who used the toll roads on a daily basis, this move would bring some relief from the crushing debt load most South Africans had to cope with.
