CAROLINE MWANSA MARSH – FROM ZAMBIAN AIR-HOSTESS TO BRITISH POUND ‘SECRET MILLIONAIRE’

I was born in Lusaka, Zambia's capital city. When I was 13, my father died and it was like my world had fallen apart. My mother was working as an accountant, so we weren't on the streets, but the fact that our income was suddenly slashed meant we had to move house and move schools, all luxuries were cut off, and life became something of a struggle for us all.

CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE: THE DANGER OF A SINGLE STORY

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is an African professional and writer. She studied medicine and pharmacy at the University of Nigeria for a year and a half. During this period, she edited The Compass, a magazine run by the university's Catholic medical students. At the age of 19, Adichie left Nigeria and moved to the United States for college. After studying communications and political science at Drexel University in Philadelphia, she transferred to Eastern Connecticut State University to live closer to her sister, who had a medical practice in Coventry. She received a bachelor's degree from Eastern, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001.

Ian Kuziva Gorowa is an African professional coach and a former Zimbabwean footballer, formerly managing South African Premier Soccer League side Moroka Swallows. Gorowa was appointed coach of Zimbabwe's national team in July 2013.


CAPE Town Stadium is likely to be turned into a little Harare on Saturday night when Zimbabwe play in the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship, but the earlier clash between Morocco and Nigeria has the potential to be "a final before the final".

ARUNMA OTEH: NIGERIAN IRON LADY WHO TRANSFORMED THE STOCK EXCHANGE

Arunma Oteh is an African professional who became the Director General of the Securities Exchange Commission of Nigeria in January 2010. The Harvard Business School graduate is responsible for regulation of Nigeria's capital markets including the Nigerian Stock Exchange.


The appointment to the role put Arunma at the forefront of reforming the capital markets at a time when investor confidence was terribly low.
