Kenya's Nation Newspapers and Safaricom launch E-paper app Featured

Agastee Khante is an African professional and general manager of Nation Media Groups (NMG) digital division. NMG owns several daily and weekly publications in East Africa, the most prominent being The Daily Nation which is Kenya's most widely read newspaper. The newspaper has launched a mobile e-paper app with East Africa's biggest cellular network Safaricom.

Speaking at the launch of the app in Nairobi, Agastee said that the technology is aimed at offering readers faster access to news.

"Our interest is to make available our quality content to an even larger audience," Khante was quoted in the East African as saying. "The offer is valid to Safaricom customers who bought tablets from 1 November, and there are plans to introduce the service on smartphones as well."

The application is available for download on the Safaricom website and comes with a three month free subscription, exclusively on tablets bought at Safaricom outlets. After the three month period, customers will be required to subscribe to the service at a fee.
